One day we received a call from a truck driver. He said he was coming to our facility to pick up an OR42 magnet.
OK.
With an air-ride trailer.
Not OK.
A long conversation ensued while we tried to explain to him the impossibility of securing a 6400 kG load inside a trailer. "What if someone swerves in front of you on the interstate and you lock up the brakes. That magnet is going to go right through the front of the trailer." He agreed to come and look at the load and then make a recommendation to his boss.
When he arrived, he agreed that it was a very bad idea. Then he said "there's something wrong with the load I am carrying. Can you take a look at it?" "Sure", we said. As he swung the trailer around outside to back into the loading dock, we heard a mighty thump and saw the rear doors of the trailer bulge out 6 inches and then snap back like a special effect from a Terminator movie. When we opened the door, this is what we saw. |
